Open Question: If the conspiracy theories are right, and the U.S. invaded for oil?

then why doesn't the U.S. have cheap oil? The price of gas still hasn't gone down, and we are still paying over $100/barrel. I have to admit, the U.S. using the "war on terrorism" to invade oil wealthy countries to steal their oil seems quite plausible to me....but if it was true, why haven't we got the cheap oil? Can someone who believes this theory to be true explain?

Open Question: [AUS] How to settle car accident claim dispute?

Full story: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1869697 I was at fault and hit another car. I don't have third party. The insurance company of another car, AAMI, called me before and provided a quote: $10k. On the other hand, Smash repair also called me and told me the same quote. In addition, Smash repair told me that they can offer me 20% off and they can provide a document saying that the claim is closed, and no one will ask me for further compensation. The condition is: I have to pay cash to them ASAP, not to AAMI. My questions are: 1. Can the claim dispute(not sure if i use the right word) be settled between me and smash repair? Do smash repair have the authority to do something like that? It's big money and I don't want to take the risk and give to wrong person.... 2. I am okay with the offer. So, what nice of document I should receive from smash repair, I am looking for something that is legal binding, and can cease people from claiming further repair expenses on me in the future.... 3. The car I hit only have third party, not comprehensive. Is that the main reason smash repair offer me a discount and tried to finalize the payment asap? I think some people just run away and never paid for the expense, and insurance company(i.e. AAMI) just let it happen and don't do anything, as it's not the job covered in third party. Am I right? Most of my friends said i can negotiate and receive a cheaper price, but, honestly, i just feel so sleepy to look after that nice of issues, i am not good at arguing, i definitely will buy insurance in the future, and keep my hassle. I just want to receive rid of it as soon as i can... Any advice is highly appreciated. Hi rustupd, Thanks! I am in sydney and your advise applies in my case. BTW, do you mean i need to contact the owner directly? and ignore smash repair ?

Open Question: Confused about servo motor speeds?

Some servo motors are marked 3000rpm, others 0.1sec/60degrees (100rpm). I'm confused. Is the motor marked 3000rpm when the gear ratio is not taken into consideration? I've looked servo motors that look like stepper motors, and I suppose these are the industrial version. However, the general description of servo motors states that they are at least twice as expensive as stepper motors. But when I've looked at the i.e. 0.4Nm servo motors (that look like typical hobby motors), they are cheaper than the 0.4Nm stepper motors. Both of them are at the price range of 50 USD, while the stepper looking motor (for industrial purposes) cost 300 USD. Could you please explain these price ranges for me? The market seems so chaotic. while the servo motor that looks like a stepper motor cost 300 USD. When I say looks like stepper motor, I mean they have the robust, solid steel cubic shape,.

Open Question: What do I need to build my own custom computer?

I may repeat myself in this, but an answer is what I am looking for. I plan on building my possess power PC which is primarily for gaming and managing servers. While MAC sells their new Towers with 12 cores, I want to know if it's possible to have the same # of cores in a PC without conflict. I know this is overboard, but as a gamer, I plan on reaching great heights with this. Don't give me the "PC's suck" attitude, MAC is still behind in the gaming industry. Not to mention they are too expensive for my pocket. Which is why I plan on building my possess PC tower. It's cheaper to buy the parts than buy an assembled tower. Plus, the limit of purchase will depend on performance. I plan on having quick and strong performance. I would really like help in this as there are many sources out there that can sell parts. I was rather glad with my HP laptop, but it's time to go with something more boss. Alienware is too expensive for the performance they give, same with Dell. HP is cheaper but pre-built towers are not what I am looking for. Websites like newegg and Tiger Direct might be good options, but I want information from people who have done this already and know what they are talking about. The best experts are those that do this first hand and learned from their past mistakes. Short, what websites sell parts for good deals and prices for building my possess custom power PC?

Open Question: Skullcandy headphones advice?

So I'm going to buy new Skullcandy headphones. In the end i came up with this dilemma between skullcandy S6GIDZ-118 and S6HECZ-060. prices are almost the same that is why it is difficult for me to chose one. also thought about SCS-SCBP3.5, it is cheaper and i thought if there is no big difference, then i would not spend $20 more. these are my first headphones so i have zero experience about it, wish you could give me some advice guys. thank you in advance here are the links if needed skullcandy S6GIDZ-118 http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Stereo-Headphones-S6GIDZ-118-Black/dp/B004P1HW8I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=IZNZ9XNLV7FJL&colid=3AY8UI2PXS15Y S6HECZ-060 http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-Hesh-Headphones-S6HECZ-060-Shattered/dp/B003KN2K2K/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2HQNDVSYQ6ZKJ&colid=3AY8UI2PXS15Y SCS-SCBP3.5 http://www.amazon.com/Skullcandy-SCS-SCBP3-5-Skullcrushers-Subwoofer-Headphones/dp/B000OYFOVM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I5IDY8729NDZL&colid=3AY8UI2PXS15Y

Open Question: Are there any cheap B&B, hostels etc Bedford?

I'm trying to plan out my trip for Cranfield University's open day on 12th May 2012, and it's looking as though I will have to spend at least one night in or around Bedford. The plane, train and bus journey from Ireland looks as though it will be very expensive so I am looking for accommodation to check for prices and availability which is close to Bedford centre so I can reach it easily. Since I will be flying out from Luton, it may also be handy to book somewhere close the airport instead of staying in Bedford. The problem is that when I try searching for places to stay, my search is bringing up expensive hotels and places far outside of Bedford and Luton.

Open Question: Looking for some bass-rich headphones?

Love listening to genres such as Dubstep, home, Dance, Techno, Electronic and Hip Hop. Hence why i am looking for a pair of new headphones, particularly excellent in the bass department. Ideally, i wouldn't like to spend anymore than £70. I am welcome to suggestions but i have a few examples, too (You'll need to copy and glue the URLs, excuse that). Headphones One: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/8852227/Sony-X-Bass-MDR-XB300-Headphones/Product.html?searchtype=allproducts&searchsource=0&searchstring=MDR-XB300&urlrefer=search Have heard good reviews on these and that the bass is good, like i am looking for. Headphones Two: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/-/3178/2445/-/8852179/Sony-X-Bass-MDR-XB700-Headphones/Product.html Two grades higher than Headphones One. Willing for the price tag although i would be glad with a cheaper pair, to be honest. Headphones Three: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/812413/-/Product.html Not much mention on the bass, although reviews are still very much 'up there' on the overall quality of sound. Headphones Four: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/18924489/-/Product.html Saw these first before investigating other headphones. Headphones Five: http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/-/3182/2449/-/19666742/Ministry-of-Sound-004-Headphones/Product.html?searchfilters=ae207%7b-20%7d%2b Reviews are really mixed on these caps so not too sure what to believe. Most stylish of the batch, in my opinion. Finally, please remember by budget, which is still a big push, and the genres i hear to. Thank you for reading :-) Oh and, by the way, my favourite headphones currently are the Sony MDR XB300s.

Open Question: Are UK supermarkets duty bound to rectify displayed product information that could mislead customers?

A big UK supermarket had two items from different makers priced and described on the shelf card as follows... 1) Tin flaked tuna in brine = 49p (contains 185g/130g drained) 37.7p per 100g 2) Tin tuna chunks in brine = 62p (contains 185g/130g drained) 33.5p per 100g Irrespective of the food inside the amounts in each tin are the same so clearly the price per 100g they have described for each item is not correct and implies the dearer item is cheaper per 100g. I queried it with the store manager (who happened to be there) pointing out the mistake was misleading but he said 'oh no its fine its because flakes are cheaper than chunks!?' Although I politely reiterated what I meant he couldn't or didn't want to grasp the mistake, he dismissed my comment and clearly wasn't interested in rectifying it. The discrepancy wasn't a major issue so I didn't pursue it but surely its not right...I often compare the displayed price per 100g of items when shopping on a budget and am a bit miffed the manager couldn't be bothered to address this. When an mistake is pointed out do they have to correct it? NB: Its fine that the products are a different price and of course chunks are dearer than flakes - its only the price per 100g that they have displayed which is incorrect and its only that part that I am disputing.

Open Question: What mp3 is reliable and has Bluetooth?

Now my original iPod classic 160gb is no longer with us and now its time to receive with the times. I work a job where I can hear to music although it is physical so i saw the lg Hbs-700 Bluetooth headset which connects wirelessly to your device requiring it to have Bluetooth. I want something that had a good battery life minimum 15 hours since streaming music will end up running down the battery. I dont mind the size too much but nothing much bigger than the dell streak(my current cell phone yes 5" screen) which I would like to use as my mp3 but find it a little to big to work with and the battery runs down really quick. I was looking at the archos 48 500gb tablet which seems tiny and very low in cost but it seems to be an older model running android 1.6 now 500gb is obviously too much but more functionality is fine. not looking to spend a fortune as the iPod touch 64 gb is 400$ so I'm definitely looking for cheaper than that and 32 GB would definitely be full as i have a little over 80 GB of music. So in conclusion I'm looking for an mp3/mini tablet that has great battery life compact and has Bluetooth for a tiny price.

Open Question: Questions on moving out at 16?

before i even start read every of this question before answering PLEASE anyway I'm 16, turning 17 this summer and a junior in high school I work at a book store, I don't even know what type of time (full/part) but I make on average 391 a week. My parents are divorce and I live with my mom because my dad is really broke and can't afford to have me live with him So basically my mom is insane, if I turn on the A/C when she tells me not too she screams for hours and she's always insulting me and we've been at each others throats for a year now. We just really don't like each other because she's one of those "because I said so" parents and that irks me so much. My pal (who is 18) offered me to move in with him in his apartment one our friends who was his roomate just moved away to go to college in california. So I said yes, I can afford it. I told my mom and dad and my dad agreed and my mom did too but she tried to be spiteful in my opinion to receive me to stay, like "give me my car back and you can't take any clothes i bought or anything I've ever boughten" which I agreed to because 1. I store at second hand stores and receive my clothes pretty cheap (90$ shoes for 13 that's just how I dress so I went out and bought a ton of clothes like jeans/tees/sweatshirts and a pairs of shoes and only spent around 80$. I'm good with money and know how to budget it, and yes I am enrolled in high school. I work tardy nights 4-11 and do homework when I receive home because I don't snooze very much. Also my mom threatened not to pay for college when I first brought up the idea a while ago, since than I committed to UNC-Asheville on a full ride lacrosse scholarship so that's taken care of. (I took the first offer I got) The problem is my dad agreed to emancipate me but my mom won't she just says I can leave (they have joint custody) what happens in that situation? Can my mom make me arrive back if she doesn't agree to emancipate me? Also like I said I have clinical insomnia and depression and I was wondering how I would go about getting my medication or prices? (Zoloft/Ambien) my mom has said she won't pay for those either which is a low blow but I mean I can manage. I'm planning to move out once I buy my car next week, I got a quote and my monthly insurance would be 110-130$ and my rent would be 300 a month split with my pal. I dont even mean to sound bratty but my mom is outrageous and I can't deal with it. I hate not being in control of my life.

Open Question: Clinique Acne Solutions Foundation vs Covergirl Trublend Foundation?

I'm having a difficult time finding any information online on comparrisons, so hoping someone out there can help. I currently use Covergirl Trublend Foundation since it's a lot cheaper than Clinique. Even though I like Covergirl, I feel as if I might need something to help prevent acne, yet long lasting. After some research, I came up with Clinique Acne Solutions. The price tag is pretty hefty ($35 per bottle) so I was hoping to look if there's anyone who's tried both and has some insight on if the Clinique is actually worth the extra money. I have oily skin, and adult acne, never really had any acne issues until I was an adult. I finally have a routine down that seems to calm my acne, but I still will randomly receive some here and there, which is the reason I want something acne based in my foundation.

Open Question: Is finding a good apartment in Seattle hard to find?

I live in Honolulu and I live with my family in a home in the upscale parts of Honolulu. I have never rented in my life before but I know apartments in Hawaii go crazy. I want to move to Seattle someday and the apartments are a couple hundred dollars cheaper than Hawaii. I looked in really good neighborhoods in Capitol Hill, Bellevue and Shoreline. every look beautiful and were renting out over the average rent price in Seattle. Researching on reviews, There are no positive reviews even in the really nice apartments. They are mostly 3 stars with lots of complaints. every they say is they like the beauty of the home and the location but staff wise, quality wise its horrible. Is this very common in apartments every over Seattle or the whole nation?

Resolved Question: Can you use twin bedding on a toddler bed?

Both my kids have the delta brand metal/plastic toddler beds. I have been trying to find some decent priced bedding for them, and so far what I have found is that twin bedding is easier and cheaper to find than toddler bedding! I found a great set that is cheap for my daughter, but it is twin size bedding. It's Winnie the Pooh which matches their room, so I'd adore to receive it but I don't want to buy it if it will look too big and engulf her little bed! Does anyone know if you can use twin bedding on a toddler bed? I do know how to make fabric alterations very well since I sew a lot so I guess I could do that if I wanted but I really want that to be a last resort. Any suggestions? Thanks! Yeah I don't think I want to spend tons of money on new beds, plus my kid's share a room so bigger beds mean smaller space. I might just receive the comforter portion and buy separate crib sheets but I'm worried that the comforter will drag to the floor?

Open Question: Is there a legal source for cheap generic dexedrine (with prescription)?

A pal of mine has ADHD pretty bad. His generic dexedrine prescription used to cost about $70-$80 a month. Within the last year the price rose to $190 for the same prescription (depending where you but it, even over $300). Since he doesn't have health insurance and doesn't make much money the cost is starting to be very noticeable. But without it, he has even more difficulties to stay focused to continue to earn income. Anybody has an idea whether there are cheaper sources in the US besides Walmart? He gets a prescription from his doctor every month, so everything is legal. Or does anybody happen to know why it got suddenly so expensive? We are worried it will keep going up. I've also heard about various cards one could receive which lower prices, does anybody know about those?

Open Question: Disney Pin Traders! I fear my Stitch pin may be a Scrapper! Please clarify?

This is a question for people who are serious pin traders and know a lot about Scrappers. For those who may still be able to help, "Scrappers" are unauthorized reproductions of Disney pins. They're cheaply made, and are usually sold outside of the Disney parks at cheap prices. Anyways, back in 2009, my family went to Disney. every of us immediately got hooked on pin trading, and had loads of fun doing so. Both my sister and I were practically in a competition to collect pins of the character, Stitch, from Lilo & Stitch. We have some of the same pins, which ties into my question. Both of us got this certain Stitch pin which shows Stitch in a square tile. A janitor there told us that this is part of a tile or puzzle collection, which also features Goofy and a couple of other characters (there are a total of five different tiles, with Stitch being the centerpiece, and the other four triangular shaped). Just about a few minutes ago, I was looking at our pin collections, and noticed that our pins were a little different. My sisters pin was a perfect shade of gold metal, and the gold outlines were neatly defined. My pin, on the other hand, is a more silverish-gold, and the outlines looked less defined. Does that mean I have a Scrapper?! I checked the backstamps, and they were the same. Should I worry?

Open Question: Which flavor of cake is cheapest to manufacture?

Generally, every the "normal" flavors of cake mix of any given brand sell for exactly the same price. And of course, the ingredients are fairly similar, but not exactly the same. So it stands to reason that there must be one flavor that is slightly cheaper to make (resulting in the highest profit for the manufacturer) and one flavor that is slightly more expensive (resulting in less profit). Anyone know how the different flavors compare? (Chocolate is the clear winner in taste.)

Open Question: Cheap Study Abroad/Student Exchange Programs?

I would really adore to travel to a foreign country over the summer. I'm 17 years old (a senior in high school) and I've never left the States, yet I have a real thirst for learning about other cultures. Does anybody know of any study abroad or student exchange programs which offer very, very cheap prices for going overseas? My family really doesn't make a lot of money, I'm even on free lunch at school. Or can someone direct me to a website which offers study abroad or student exchange programs, and maybe a scholarship site? I tried doing this research myself but I've spent an hour searching to no avail. I'm not very good at finding things online... Thank you for any sort of information, I really appreciate this help!
